PGL The Musical - an extraordinary adventure.

Valentines Day turned out to be nothing less but great this year. Surely it was an evening to remember. Not only did i get to watch PGL The Musical, but it was also with four fine beautiful ladies. All four of them were my lovely dates for Valentines. And it was also and adventure getting to Istana Budaya with the mad traffic all around KL. We experimented many different routes to get to Istana Budaya and spent 3 hours in the car getting stuck in traffic. But it was all worth it. Mok, Aunty Mah, Aunty Pah and Aunty Latifah, it was a pleasure escorting and driving u crazy ladies out on Valentines Day. Being stuck in traffic with a bunch of middle-age women has never been more exciting. I seriously did not expect the havocness and how cool u guys are. Mok, u and your friends are the coolest moms ever.

Back to PGL The Musical. Tho i missed the first 30 mins of the first act, i was mesmerized in 5 different ways as i set foot in the auditorium. First things first, I've never been to Istana Budaya before, so i was a bit 'jakun' when i first got there. At first sight of the stage, seeing Tiara and Stephen Rahman on top of a mock up cliff, singing in tune together was really jaw dropping. I mean ive been to musicals before, but ive never seen a Malaysian production as majestic as this. And i didnt know Tiara cud actually sing, she in fact has a beautiful voice, a lovely tone i might add. That Stephen Rahman fella who plays Hang Tuah, that dude can belch out a tune i tell 'ya. Plus his BM aint dat bad considering he was brought up in London. Another star is born and that bright star is AC Mizal. He plays Gusti Adipati and what an astounding performance. He shud get an award for his excellent potrayal of the Majapahit/Jawa prince. Adlin Ramly who plays the Sultan Melaka is another genius, the product of years of theatrical involvement. He can be notorious, warm, serious and funny at the same time. Now thats wat i call good acting. Cant wait for his next movie Gubra.

My ass was glued to the seat frm the get go. The stage production was simply majestic and celestial. You know it's really good when it gives u goosebumps. Well it did! I almost cried watching Tiara's scene wit Hang Tuah. I mean my eyes went watery as i felt her pain sacrificing everything for love. Im starting to sound like a girl now, so i'll stop. hehe.. At that very moment, how i wish the Mcgiff's were there, they wud really appreciate every second of the musical. It wud be great to share our thoughts after the show.

Anyway, towards the end of musical i was left feeling like a 6 year old kid, all excited and awed by the brilliant production. I mean things like this makes me feel proud to be a Malaysian. Much kudos to Zahim Al-Bakri the director, the musical director Roslan Aziz who collaborated with Singapore's Dick Lee (damn u for dabbling wit my emotions!), the talented cast and also the stage designer (gempak sial...). Puteri Gunung Ledang The Musical is truly a sublime experience and most definitely a Malaysian achievement. Every single one of us shud get the chance to experience this beautiful masterpiece and delve into the magical journey of our national myth and folklore. Im sure I have. In the simple words of Gwen Stefani, "So wat u waiting for?" Go see it coz im having seconds.
